Important Information

Before we begin our therapy sessions together, we will review this information in detail to ensure you are fully informed. The content on this page provides a high-level overview of considerations related to healthcare benefits, insurance, privacy, confidentiality, and other important information.

Benefits and Insurance

Please check your insurance or benefit plan for coverage details, as many employee benefit programs, insurance plans, or extended medical plans may cover therapy services either partially or fully. After each appointment, you will receive a receipt that can be submitted for reimbursement. Additionally, therapy services qualify as a tax-deductible medical expense on your income tax.

Confidentiality and Privacy

All information is kept confidential and secure. Limitations to client confidentiality do exist when therapists are ethically and legally required to share information with appropriate third parties. We will discuss these further at our consultation but they include, but are not limited to, situations where:

  • You are at imminent and real risk to your own safety or the safety of someone else

  • A protected person in your care, such as a minor, is being put at reasonable risk of harm

  • A court order is issued requiring the information

Land Acknowledgement

Cochrane is located in the heart of Southern Alberta, where I acknowledge and pay tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). I also respectfully acknowledge that I am on the homelands of the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).
